No Father Left Behind was born from the lived experiences of our founder, Shaquille Armstrong, whose professional career working within the juvenile justice system exposed a reality that too often goes unseen.

During his time working with system-involved youth, Shaquille witnessed firsthand the deep inequities faced by young fathers navigating the juvenile justice system. Many of these young men were detained or involved in court proceedings while also trying to maintain their identity as fathers. Despite their desire to be present in their children’s lives, they often faced overwhelming barriers, limited visitation opportunities, restricted communication with their children or the mothers of their children, and little to no support systems designed to help them navigate fatherhood while involved in the justice system.

Even more concerning was what happened after release. Many young fathers returned to their communities without the necessary resources, skills, or guidance needed to successfully embrace their role as fathers. Without mentorship, education, or structured support, these young men were left to figure out fatherhood on their own, often while simultaneously trying to rebuild their lives.

No Father Left Behind was created to change that reality. We believe that fatherhood has the power to transform lives. When young fathers are given the opportunity to grow, learn, and be supported, they are more likely to become positive role models for their children and productive members of their communities.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to ensure that young fathers involved in the juvenile justice system are not forgotten, overlooked, or left behind.

Through mentorship, fatherhood development programs, community partnerships, and restorative support services, we work to equip young fathers with the tools they need to build meaningful relationships with their children, strengthen their identity as fathers, and create healthier futures for their families.

At No Father Left Behind, we also believe that recognizing and celebrating fathers matters. Too often, young fathers involved in the justice system are defined by their mistakes rather than their potential. We work to shift that narrative by acknowledging their growth, encouraging accountability, and helping them develop the confidence and skills necessary to lead with purpose.

When we support young fathers, we are not only supporting individuals, we are strengthening families, reducing cycles of incarceration, and investing in safer and more stable communities.
